Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (February 2017) — Millions of people 65 and older suffer from falls in the home each year.   • Medical costs associated with falls totaled more the $50 billion in 2015. Medicare and Medicaid covered approximately 75% of the costs
  • Even if no injury occurs, many people become afraid of falling again leading to decreased activities
    and associated weakness that can lead to an increased risk of falling
  • Fall deaths increased by over 30% from 2007 to 2016. At this rate, it is anticipated that 7 fall deaths
    would occur every hour by 2030
